Vita

PortraitBorn in Linz, Austria in 1954, I have been very active and curious ever since my childhood. Thus, like numerous others with artistic ability, I had to acquire a “respectable occupation”. I grew up surrounded by the fine arts. My forty year occupational history – most recently as Executive Assistant – was continuously connected with further vocational training and curiosity, and my deep interest in logistics and the world of finance were directly applied in the fields of financial management and supervision.

Nevertheless, painting, drawing, and fascination with colours continually captivated me. During my self-taught beginnings, I adhered to my intuition to work with water colours or oil. Following my many forays in rustic art, which began more than thirty years ago and included restoration and the production of paints, as well as reverse glass/glass painting and ceramic and silk painting, I returned to water colour and acrylic (instead of oil) painting several years ago.

Motivated by several notable artists, (Gerhard Raab, Erwin Kastner, Alfred Hansl, Norbert Mayer) I ventured to try new techniques, to broaden my horizon, and to partially demolish my inner boundaries and am now able to rejoice in new perspectives and sensory experiences.

Parallel to this, I refreshed my drawing skills during art workshops in Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Austria. Museums and exhibitions, both at home and abroad, have, even during a holiday, a magical attraction for me. Now, I happily sketch the highlights of my travels in, for example, Myanmar, India, Thailand, Bali, China/Tibet, Mexico, Egypt, Turkey, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, etc. and come into contact with people with whom I would otherwise not have interacted.

Every now and then, I allow myself to get caught up in collages, which become fascinating elements on canvas and paper and continually re-awaken the curiosity of the observer.

Currently, I am able to express my love of colour and music on paper and canvas in my studio.
